2011  is going to be a big year for social media and its business application in South Africa.  There is no doubt in our mind that the business that does this right will continue to grow in relevance.

Social media and its business application is a rapidly evolving environment and at Social Media IQ we proud ourselves in doing our best to keep up with the rapid change and curate the news and insights for you.

There are primarily two ways for you to keep track of all the items as we share them.

The first is on Facebook.  All you need to do is click on the “Like” button when you visit the Social Media IQ Page on Facebook and you will get our updates right in your news feed. Our Facebook page is also an excellent place for you to comment and ask questions on the items we share. During the latter half of 2010 we created Facebook Groups for each of the workshops we conducted to enable you to continue the discussion after the workshop. Some of the groups have had some interesting discussions. Remember to make use of these should you have questions.

The other option is of course Twitter. The @socialmediaiq account on Twitter is also filled with information we find on the web. If you are on Twitter why not follow us there. You are also welcome to connect with us personally on @peterdtoit and @lisabreedt.

On this blog we publish insights as we work on projects and interact with businesses that are in the process of becoming social. Why not subscribe to our blog feed which you can then receive as an email or via your RSS reader and here we recommend Google Reader.

We also recommend that you subscribe to the Social Media IQ newsletter where we share interesting insights and workshop updates.

Speaking of workshops – we are presenting two workshops in February, one in Johannesburg on Feb 9 and in Cape Town on Feb 16. The workshop theme: Developing a social media strategy for your business.

We look forward to meeting you on or off-line in 2011!
